- About Me
Jayms Ramirez has been on the road for the past fifteen years as an intrepid traveler, guide and photographer. His travel bug was caught early while venturing around the globe with his family during his youth. He has always related to the romance of travel best portrayed by the likes of Ernest Shackleton, Jack London and Paul Theroux. After college and many reckless jaunts abroad in search of adventure, Jayms began leading small group camping treks through Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Central and South America for a handful of adventure companies. His passion for photography and documenting life was fueled by these endless months on the road in areas far off the gringo trail. Jayms is a Freelance Photographer shooting in a photojournalistic style combined with a touch of fine art to capture the souls of areas, and people he's encountered on the way. He has photographed landmine clearance in rural Cambodia, Zapatista rebels in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico and recently chronicled Tlingit Indians of Sitka, Alaska for new Photo book being released any week now! In 2003, Jayms took a year off the road and opened a café on the pristine beaches of Tulum, Mexico. This idyllic place was a perfect mix of nature and the travel community he loves. He served beautiful coffee, led trips into Maya ruins and swapped many a story with fellow travelers. After a year waking up in the Caribbean, he needed more stimuli and ached to continue his travels. He returned to San Francisco and split his time teaching surfing, leading camping trips into Yosemite National Park and helping Disney break into the Adventure travel industry by helping them create new trips into Costa Rica. This past year, Jayms joined a Sustainability firm in San Francisco as a Strategist to educate some of the largest companies in the world about environmental awareness and how to create a better balance with business and our environment. All these areas of passion have come together for this amazing ride with Travel Channel and hosting this "Ecoluxe" and "Travel Fact or Fiction." It has given Jayms the opportunity to explore, guide and photograph still, but now for a much larger audience with a mission of focusing on Sustainable Travel and Tourism.
