This vine snake was found during a common practice for some biologists in tropical forests. A night time walk with spotlight. You never know what you are going to see. We found the snake in Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Named after Costa Rica's third president, Braulio Carrillo National Park contains 7 distinct life zones on more than 40,000 hectares of what many consider to be the some of the most pristine and diverse tropical forest found in Central America.
The Park lies only 20 kilometers from the Capital, San Jose, but has been well protected since its creation in 1978 and much of it has yet to be explored. There are a handful of trails and permitted camping is allowed however, venturing very far into this expansive jungle wilderness is for adventurous and seasoned hikers only.
